Managing the House in hot temperatures

All of the bedrooms have very effective air conditioning and you will be able to choose your temperature at night.  However, the daytime areas of the house are big and airy, meaning that to change the temperature takes some time.  Here are some tips for managing those parts of the house in the Summer.

Don't let the Sun in!

The sun rises at the front of the house, meaning the back, where the main living room is, does not get the sun early in the morning.  If you want to open the windows and get some fresh air first thing in the morning then that is the time to do it.  However, as the sun comes up, it's worth shutting the windows and the shutters so the main rooms are dark and cooler.

Don't blast air with the Air Conditioning Unit

When we use the house, we don't turn off the air conditioning unit in the living areas at night.  Instead, during the day and night, we might turn off some units but leave others on.  In addition, we don't have the temperature at a very low setting.  We're more likely to have the temperature set at around 24 degrees.  It was noticeable when we first got the house that Italians used to come in and shiver, becuase we got into the habit of turning on the air-con units at low temperatures.

We would also recommend not turning off the air-con units when you go out although again, it's worth having the temperature set at a higher level. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
